Georgia SR-22 Insurance                                       FREE QUOTE

The state of Georgia requires drivers to have liability insurance.  The required minimum limits are 25/50/25

$25000 for Bodily Injury (BI) for single person per accident
$50000 for bodily injury for multiple people per accident
$25000 for Property Damage (PD).

Liability insurance is designed to cover expenses caused by the at-fault driver to other people and property, it does not cover injury or property damage done to the at-fault driver or vehicle.  It is always encouraged to carry more than minimum coverage.  Georgia is not a no-fault state.

There are several reasons for the state to require an SR-22.  The SR22 is an attachment that accompanies an insurance policy.  The 4 main types of policies are:

Non-Owner also called Operators Policy - The cheapest policy to file an SR22, is a liability only policy which covers the driver who does not have a vehicle registered in their name, or need SR22 but do not need to insure a vehicle.

Auto Policy - Standard policy that provides coverage for a vehicle.  An SR22 can be attached to an auto policy.  It can be Liability only or Full coverage which includes Comprehensive and Collision, full coverage includes drivers vehicle and is usually required with financed vehicles.

Motorcycle Policy - An SR-22 can be attached to a cycle policy.

Georgia drivers average over 250000 auto accidents per year.  Penalties for driving without insurance include misdemeanor charge, up to $1000 in fines, license suspension up to 3 months even up to 1 year in jail.  The severity usually grows with repeat offenders.
