The state of Florida continues to require financial responsibility in 2 different forms, depending on the violations involved.  All motor vehicle violations involving alcohol in the state of FL require an FR44 (FR-44) endorsed policy for license release.  100/300/50 limits are needed to meet the FR requirement on these auto policies (written with or without a vehicle) to maintain a valid drivers license.

All violations not involving alcohol (driving without insurance, accumulated points, etc..) will require the standard SR22 liability policy written to state minimum 10/20/10.  Again, either policy can be written to release your Florida license even if you do not own a vehicle.  Here at Wessell Insurance, we have written in excess of 2000 Florida insurance policies, all with either an SR22 or an FR44.  The vast majority of these are non-owner SR22, or non-owner FR44 policies.. Written exclusively to release a suspended drivers license, and give some coverage while operating a vehicle that is not owned.
